I looks like I finally succumbed to the cold/flu/sore throat thing that the rest of the family has been rocking for the last 10 days because my voice is completely gone. I can’t help it but I’m always shouting at Adapt. I mean, I’m an excitable guy and when someone is finishing a workout I usually end up screaming at them (either because they’re dying in the arse or I’m getting way too excited)

Last night at the gym was no exception. As croaky as I might have been 21 peeps showed up at 6pm to hit 400m repeats. Now I don’t know if they knew exactly what they were getting them selves in for. But they got cleaned up and cleaned up royally! Obviously that last 100m is usually were people start dying and because it’s an uphill run you better believe I was screaming at everyone to keep on pushing through to the end.

21 people at 6pm. 1 person at 7pm – WTF?! Louisa ended up having a 1:1 PT session with Sean and was hitting the run by herself so I thought I’d better jump in and do it with her as a show of solidarity. Good idea or bad mistake? In hindsight, having spent the last 24hrs with a sore throat probably wasn’t the best decision and as it turned out I had a 1:1PT session @ 8pm (w/ Tash) so I only comitted to running just 3 of the 5 repeats. I mean I would have only run 3 if Matt O wasn’t around. But he was still hanging about from the 6pm session and he was like “Suck it up princess… Don’t pussy out now bro?!…”  He’ll use any chance he can to give some back to the trainers and with Louisa battling out the full 5 rounds the very least I could do was also do the complete 5 rounds too – That whole “We do the workouts our clients do…” schpeel was coming back to bite me in the arse – Damn you Matt!

Tuesday 27.9.11

400m repeats x5 w/ 3 min rest between each:

  1. 1:11
  2. 1:16 – This was the killer (my calves started blowing up and my head was spinning)
  3. 1:19
  4. 1:21
  5. 1:21
It took me a good 20 mins to settle back down (half way through my 1:1 session – oops) but Tash didn’t seem to mind and I put her through 3x 500m repeats on the C2 too 🙂
About the Author Ben

  1. So, my comment is either gonna be waaaay better the second time around, or way worse.

Those C2 intervals are nasty. Not at all an easy option – my legs are still wrecked. Actually, would be good to get some technique pointers on that, I'm pretty sure that I was being totally ineffective.

It's good to know that you guys experience the "fun" as we do – especially as I know how much you dislike running!

    1. Yeah, there's definitely a right and wrong way to hit the C2 – it makes a huge difference! I'll show you if you're still keen next time I see you.
Oh and it was better the second time round 🙂
