a1: 5×5 clean high pulls @ 80kg w/ straps // rest 60 sec
a2: 5×5 tall cleans @ 40 // rest 60 sec
— got a bit carried away and went for 5×5 in stead of 3×5 (goose)
B1: 8min AMRAP:
- 8 push-jerks @ 70kg
- 8 ring dips
- 16 snatches (w/ 4 each hand and swap)
— no rest move straight to B2
Strategy
Didn’t really have one – was just really focused on nailing the jerks…
Outcome: B1 2 rounds + 6 jerks / B2 75 DUs
After reviewing footage of B1 & 2 one thing is crystal clear: I spent way to much time with my hands on my knees or hips – just looking at the bar of sorting out the collars – found it really, reaslly hard to get back on it so did anything I could to avoid it. Still a long way to go as far as engine goes but it’s ‘As Prescribed’ from now on until the Open.

First 16 hour fast  – legit and w/ training
This is the first time I’ve legitimately done a 16 hour fast. I haven’t done it before because my plan was the: eat (last meal) @ 6pm and then not until 12pm (first meal) the next day version. I’ve tried but I’m completely ravenous by 6am the next day and cave in.
This time round I opted for 1pm (last meal) through to 6am (first meal which was post workout too…) I made sure my last meal was a hardy serve of Zambreros chicken bol w/ double meat. I usually skip the rice and bean paste but this time round left it in. The rest of my day was so productive that I just felt like I was in the zone and coming into the gym I’d only had a couple of glasses of water. After the workout this morning I double dosed some ascend ‘recovery’ protein w/ L-Glutamine, mixed w/ water and I’m looking forward to an epic breaky that Becca’s prepping too.
I don’t think this morning’s session sucked bad because I trained in a fasted state – no I just think that’s more of a reflection as to where I’m currently at. It’s kinda crazy but I was talking to a mate last night and being a competitive elite exerciser (and making it to the regionals) isn’t in my top five areas of focus for 2012 – interesting?!
