Decided it was time for a half yearly clean out and there’s no better way to clean up your nutritional habits then by jumping on the Whole30 bandwagon. For the next 30 days I’ll eat: meat and veg, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no refined sugar. You might think that’s going to be a walk in the park but it’s what you can’t eat on the Whole30 that’s gonna make things interesting: no alcohol, no legumes (i never really liked chick peas any way) no dairy and no sugar.
One thing I learnt from my last whole30 was to really dial back the fruit. I don’t usually go spastic on fruit but I’ll probably drop a banana post WOD, once every 2 days. Because I’m training Outlaw I’ll amp up the carbs in the form of sweet potato and because I love Almond butter, amp that up too.
I will continue to supplement my diet with magnesium, fish oil and adrenoplex (panax ginseng, withania root supp for the adrenals) but other than that I’m on it.
I haven’t used my blog for ages and decided that I’ll post up my daily food intake and training, plus some thoughts on how everything (my life, training, relationships, business) is tracking for the next 30 days.
Food & Training
6:30am – wake (slept pretty well after s-press and DL maxes the night before)
7:20am – breakfast @ : slow cooked lamb + sweet potato + broccoli  + almond butter
7:45am – coffee – long black (pour over)
8am – coaching: 1:1 w/ Tim W
9:30am – coffee 2 –Â long black (pour over)
10am – coaching – run 10am session
12pm – train outlaw
1. 2RM snatch
– worked up to 80 for a double. failed 85 3x; then 1 @ 75kg(95%), 1 @ 70kg (90%)
2. 3RM back squat
– 5@70,5@90,5@110,3@120,3@130,3@140,1@150(failed second rep and called it); then 3@135kg, 3@130kg – back squats felt pretty heavy today – could be last night’s maxes but I was speaking to Christy and mentioned how good my squats and cleans are feeling doing Outlaw but how I seem to snatch better (when I hardly do them)
3: for time: 30 burpee box jumps @ 24″, 30 clean and jerks w/ 24kg KBs (2 hands), 30 burpee box jumps
– result: 13:33 – double handed KB clean an jerks were broken up into 5, 3, 4, 4, 4, 4, 3, 3
2pm – post WOD fuel: slow cooked lamb + mixed roast root veggies + broccoli
2:30pm – coffee
3:30pm – arvo tea –Â slow cooked lamb + sweet potato + broccoli + almond butter
5:30pm – coaching – 1:1 PT w/ Tad
7.30pm – dinner – BBQ steak (medium rare) + broccoli and carrots + almond butter
Looking to be in bed by 9pm – will et you know tomorrow.
