It’s crazy at the moment. Adapt is going gang busters. My world is spinning and I’m writing this as I take a quick half hour break from my full time job as a graphic designer. Yes, I actually still have a full time job. Just.
Sean and I were chatting with one of our clients (Kat) yesterday strategising about Adapt’s future directions and the possibility of becoming going incorporated. OK so we’re not there yet but it’s definitely where we’re headed. Next month we register for GST (we have to now — it’s a revenue thing) Kat informed us that we’d definitely need to solidify our vision and mission statement before visiting an accountant and her main question was “Why?… Why do you do it?”
In just a few short years we’ve gone from 10 mates working out in our garage in Palmerston to running more than 80 people through 20 plus sessions a week in a legitimate commercial space, smack bang in the middle of Belconnen. This thing (Adapt) is bigger the ‘Ben Hur’ and we couldn’t stop this train if we wanted to.
We now use mindbodyonline to manage contracts and our weekly schedule. It’s been a trial by fire experience to get that system up and running but looking back I’d have no idea how to manage or track our existing members, products and services without it – it is. Awesome. If you’re thinking about starting or you’re already running a garage gym and looking to take your business to the next level – Get MBO and do it sooner rather than later.
Anyway, back to ‘Why we do Adapt’Â Adapt ‘Health and Fitness’ was founded on was a JFK quote:
“Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity.”
We (I think I speak for Sean) do this because we want to help people be better than they are right now – not just physically but mentally too. We want people to live their best lives (thanks Nick) and we know that increased levels of fitness certainly increase the chance of that occurring.
We know how to make people stronger, leaner and give them the mental toughness they need to absolutely crush life. I make claims like that because Adapt’s clients are walking talking evidence of this. We’re developing guys into Beast warriors and girls into warrior goddesses on a daily basis.
We currently use CrossFit to achieve that means. Is it the only way? Of course not, but I’ve been doing it since 2009 and I’m the fittest I’ve ever been. We’ve been training guys and girls using the methodology for over 2 years and the results are undeniable.
We provide a place, some equipment and a clear direction for people to grow physically, mentally and emotionally. The thing that makes Adapt truly remarkable is the community. We know surrounding yourself with a circle of like minded individuals also pursuing ‘elite fitness’ keeps you focused and accountable  and watching the community grow has been quite a reward.
So no, I haven’t forgot why we’re doing this and I don’t think I ever will. I’ve got way too many people who now also share in Adapt’s vision to build better people, one back squat at a time.
