Clear, focused and calm. That’s what training felt like today…
Often when I’m training – especially when I’m snatching, it can be more of a case of hope (1st attempt) and then super-hope (for the 2nd attempt) rather than perfect execution of known positions, power and finesse.
It’s a good day when I hit 90 – even better when I manage a double. It’s a great day when I hit 95 – even better when I nail a double at 95. Working up through my sets: 50(3),60(3),70(2), 80(2), 90(fail) I was able to remain clear and calm enough to think about what was and wasn’t happening and then get back on the bar, re-focus and hit 95 for a double. That’s a win and I’ll chalk it up to having a much clearer head – I’m starting to settle in to this Whole30…
It’s been a bit of a roller coaster ride with training this week – I’ll feel absolutely exhausted on the warm up, battle through the lifts and then get a burst of energy before we hit the metcon?! Other times the warm up feels great, I feel super-strong hitting the strength portion and then die in the arse, half way through the metcon?! I’m pretty sure my energy levels are starting to turn a corner though and look forward to next week…
Food and Training
7am – wake – got to bed pretty late last night (12am) was busy writing up blog posts
7:30am – coffee – double shot espresso
7:45am – breakfast – sweet potato + beef meatballs + broccoli
9am – long black (pour over) + almond butter
11am – Local press juice – apple celery kale lemon cucumber
11:45am – pre train coffee – double shot espresso

Snatch from the blocks (above the knee): @ 50,60,70,80,90(f 2nd),90,95,97.5(f) // 2×2 @ 90(failed 2nd), 90(failed 1st and called it) I think I was so chuffed to get 95 that I checked out a little
Strength
1a) Back Squat: warm up @ @ 90(5),100(5),110(5),120(3),130(3); then 5×2@ 135 (90% of Tuesday’s 3rm)
1b) Pendlay Row: 5×5 @ 70kg
Conditioning

—result: shoulders felt like crap so did DLs @ 140kg (probably could have gone a little heavier – 150kg perhaps) and finished in: 10:43
2:30pm – post train – banana + coconut water
3pm – lunch – wilted spinach + sautéed mushies + slow cooked lamb + bacon + half an avocado + carrots + broccoli
7pm – dinner – slow cooked lamb + sauerkraut
