Fresh back from a week up in Sydney (well 4 days at workshops and the conference) and I’m ready to get back into some decent training. Also just had my back sorted out again this morning (Pete @ Enhance) and things are starting to feel much better – It’s getting better every day.

Last week I was pretty surprised how bad I got beat down after back squatting 5 tonne (5×10@100kg). I seriously felt like someone had ripped out my femurs and smashed them about my pelvis for 45 hours! I think I did those on Friday afternoon but by Monday it was hard to get around without looking like a decrepit old man. Seriously?! That being said it was pretty good to feel sore again. It’s certainly been a while since I had experienced such a beat down from a strength session – welcome back to the old days 🙂

I did manage to make it down to a local park on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings in an effort to regain some mobility. I hit some handstands and battled through 5 rounds of a very slow ‘Cindy’. I hit some dead hang pull-ups and failed miserably attempting some bar muscle-ups… I put it down to soreness but I’ve got to say it’s been a while.

Friday 14.10.11

On Friday morning I met up with Peticus (he was also up at a conference in Sydney…) and we jogged over to check out CF Sydney’s new spot in Alexandria. We hit some push-press and push-jerks although I’d have to say I didn’t feel like I got long enough to hit what I wanted…

  • push-press: 3×2 @ 70kg
  • push-jerk 3×2 @ 80kg – pretty dirty though

Saturday 15.10.11

  • ‘Dianne’ (21-15-9: 100kg Deads & HSPU) – 7:34
    – 1st round – deads: unbroken /  HSPU: 5,5,5,3,3
    — 2nd round – deads: 10,5 / HSPU: 2,2,2,2,2,2,2,1
    — 3rd round – deads: unbroken / HSPU: 1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1

Of course I hit some shrugs too: 3×15 @ 32kg (each arm) – I’m trying to build a ‘yoke’ yeah?!

Sunday 16.10.11

  • 2k for time on the C2: 6:57
    – sat on 1:46 – 1:48/500m for the first 1500m and sped up to about 1:35 – 1:38/500m for the last 500…
    — After seeing Rosey do it I seriously contemplated going home instead – but ended up doing it. Twas harder than I thought it would be. Was also thinking about hitting the prowler as a finisher (before I did it) but threw that idea out the window after not being able to move my legs for 20 mins… smart choice.
