I don’t like to whinge about things. I mean occasionally I might go off on a bit of a tangent but for the last however many months something’s been up with my back. I think I did something ages ago (Nov 2010) hitting the dirtiest 1RM power clean you’ve ever seen and while it generally doesn’t give me too much trouble – well things have really flared back up recently…
I’ve been to different massage therapists, chiros and acupuncture practitioners and none of them them knew what was going on. “It could be this or it could be that…” I’d hear them say “Perhaps you should try –BLAH–?!…” Everyone has completely fluffed around and I’ve had all sorts or diagnosis and advice and none to be honest did shit… I just want to get back to lifting heavy again (without the trunk/hip/quad disconnect) and driving my car without a substantial dull, throbbing pain every time I sat down…
Anyways back to my Chiro: Pete Garbutt (@ Enhance Health in Mitchell ACT) I’d totally forgot that I had an appointment booked in with him until a reminder phone call the afternoon before. You see it takes about a month to get in to see Pete because he’s booked out most of the time and I’d booked him in a midst trips to other therapists, just in case I got a call up from somebody else cancelling…
I went in and explained to Pete, who was fresh back from giving Lectures to other Chiros over in Brazil that something was definitely up. I told him I had been to see others who’d done absolutely nothing to help my back and I was sick of all the BS and just wanted to get back to training again. He watched me squat and than sat me on the bed and got me to sit slouched and then sit up straight (activated lumbar) “Ah…” he said “You’ve got a jammed coccyx – I can fix that no worries…”

He worked on my glutes, clicked both my legs and then a couple of places on my back and boom! Instant relief! It’s hard to describe the feeling after getting something that’s been out for so long reset but I can now feel my right leg and my arse isn’t dead anymore – Yay! I mean it actually feels like it’s connected to my trunk! I’m euphoric and while I feel like I just need to have a cry (tears of joy of course) well I’m definitely crying on the inside. The release was instant.
I’ve been dealing with this for months now and in just 1 short session my Chiro: Pete Garbutt my issues have been sorted – WORD! It is truly incredible. Seriously. If you think somethings out in your back (actually any where in your body) go and see Pete. He actually understands how I train and works to fix things so I can train again – Boom!
