Today I finally got all ‘peopled out’. I was pretty cranky this morning but it wasn’t a coffee thing nor a Whole30 thing. My mind has been clear and my nutrition stellar over the past week. I just think that I’ve just spent a tonne of time in the box this week – coaching, training and giving everything I have and it’s worn me down.
While it’s extremely rewarding [running your own business] it really is a constant hustle and if you don’t regularly take some time out of it, you run the risk of it [the business] running you over. I’ve said this to a number of different people a number of different times but I honestly believe that if you don’t take a break – your body will do it for you – or at least that’s the way it’s worked in the past for me.
After Becca kicked me out of the gym I did manage to go and catch up with one of my main men Tim Manning and share some stories over coffee, somewhere I’ve never been before at a place called Coffee Lab (in the City). I had an espresso, followed by some weird, nerdy steam filter coffee they brew. It was pretty cloudy but surprisingly refreshing – as I’ve been smashing Mocamaster filter coffee (long blacks) over the last week or so.
One of the best things you can do when you’re feeling a bit flat is to go and hang out with a close buddy. I’ve got lots of friends but there’s really only a couple of guys that truly restore my soul after hanging out. We don’t even have to chat about much but I always manage to walk away feeling happier and ready to get back into it.
Food and Training
4:30am – wake – not sure what’s happening at the moment but same as yesterday – stirred around 3:50am and then woke up (with alarm) halfway through a dream?!
5:30am – breakfast – slow cooked pulled pork + sweet potato, carrot and apple baby food + almond butter
5:30-6:30am – coach double am sessions
6am – coffee – long black (Mocamaster)
8am – coffee 2x long black + almond butter (half a jar)
10:15am – treat – salted caramel smoothie from thr1ve – it’s my rest day
11:45am – snack – pulled pork (last little bit left)
1:15pm – coffee @ coffee lab (city) – espresso
1:30pm – coffee @ coffee lab (city) weird steam filter coffee w/ Tim Manning (Red Brick)
2:30pm – sweet potato + chicken breast + grilled capsicum & basil pesto
4:15pm – snack – made some pumpkin, banana and almond bread – this contained a couple of desert spoons of almond butter which I did manage to add to the mix but a lot didn’t #justsayin. I keep telling myself that this is for post training but seriously I think it’s a bit of a treat and I don’t think I’ll make them again for the next 13 days – paleo-fying treats e.g. almond meal muffins isn’t a good thing 🙁
6:30pm – dinner – grilled chicken thighs + green beans + half an avocado
7:30pm – slice of pumpkin banana bread – as I was putting it in the fridge (for tomorrow)
It’s 8:30 as I write this and I’m expecting to be in bed by 9pm – but we’ll see…
