In other news (and I can’t believe I’m saying this) I just shaved off my beard. I’ve been feeling pretty self conscious about it lately as I know Becca hated it. Well I mean she put up with it – but the longer it got it – the more I loved it but the more Becca didn’t. I like to kiss my wife and now I can without worrying about my beard grossing her out.

I can easily say that my latest effort was the best I’ve ever grown – A solid 2 and a bit months worth. I’m happy to say that this dude (me) “can grow a beard” It was big. It was bushy and something that had solid street cred (or well at least it was commented on from other well bearded dudes) I’m sorry but girls don’t and will never understand the beard. I’m going to miss it dearly but I also love smooching my wife so it was a decision that had to be made…

Food and Training

5am – wake – Had to get up earlier because I was running the early AM sessions – was pretty amped to see how things would turn out and in the end it was all good…. Check the youtube feedback clip 🙂

5.30am – breakfast – 4 egg scramble + bacon + almond butter

6am – coffee – long black (Mocamaster)

8:30am – training Adapt NPFL style

Shoulders were pretty smoked from my [supposed] Rest day: Thursday night WOD (bar muscle-ups and all) and traded the option of an Outlaw session and teamed up with Annie, Ashleigh and Matt White for our very own NPFL/NPGL style session with the rest of the Adapt crew.

Was interesting to see how I perform in a pressure cooker situation and one thing was clear from the start we needed better communication skills. I was also a little on the aggressive side (when we all lost count of where we were at) in the 2nd race. I’ll make sure I’m better next time.

Had a play with some backwards roll to support on the rings too – This is a bit of a party trick and I’m confident I’ll be able to nail one by the end of the week.

10am – post WOD fuel – 2x banana + coconut water + Paleo ball (bit of a carb up – which I think got to me in the evening)

12pm – sweet potato wedges (from Grilled) + beef meatballs (home)

1pm – snack – almond butter

4:30pm – arvo tea – bacon and fried eggs (round 2) + almond butter

5pm – pre-dinner – zucchini and bacon fritata

6:45pm – dinner – slow cooked lamb and sauerkraut

Really battled this afternoon (probably from the 2 bananas post WOD). Becca (who isn’t doing the Whole30) felt like pizza. I would have absolutely loved that as well but fought the urge and made sure I had something really salty for dinner. The girls were watching movies so I jumped on youtube to watch the NPGL (I liked the old name better) to get inspired and pull my head in. I think that’s what you’ve got to do when you’re battling food cravings – Remember why you’re doing what you’re doing and get inspired again.
