Ok, so it’s been a while since I posted anything on this site. I was warned before I left my public service job not to post anything that might be considered a breach of the APS code of conduct eg. “Everything you say can and will be used against you…” It was a pretty strong message and considering the way I left (long story) I decided to head the warning, lay low and focus on building up this Adapt thing into a full time gig over the months of December, Jan and Feb…

When I originally handed in my resignation (back mid November) my bookkeeper was horrified “What have you done?” she said “There’s a 40K hole in the budget?! (that was if I wanted to draw the same salary I was earning in the APS) Why didn’t you come and speak to me first?!” It probably didn’t help that Becca has just handed in her resignation too. She had a plan for me to stay in the public service until my long service was up and then for me to make a gradual transition into the gym.

I mean I had asked work for that but they had me bent over a barrel – I’d asked for part time work (3 days a week) and they’d refused. I’d asked for leave without pay and they refused. Could I get sone kind of long service leave paid our pro rata? Apparently not – I’d pursued every possible avenue so there really was no other option but to call it.

After resigning I’d have to say that was pretty excited and perhaps a little scared about the future. OK I lied. I was really scared. But after speaking with a couple of people who were all “Go for it mate – burn that bridge and you’ll just have to make Adapt work!” (thanks Simon) I’m so glad I did.

I’m loving my new life! The gym is buzzing. We’ve got new merch in. We put some carpet down and we’ve even got a new Fridge, with a glass door and all. Our group fitness membership is steadily growing and more and more PT clients are starting to filter in (now that we’ve got some time in the middle of the day)

Today’s 5.30am crew killing it…

I had told some friends at the start of the month that if I made it through the entire month of February (with all my coaches paid and all my bills paid) that we could probably make a go of this whole Adapt thing – Well with less than 5 days to go it looks like it’s going to work and we could do it all again for March! Bring. It. On.
