I had the absolute pleasure of taking my eldest daughter: Madelyn to training with me this morning.

She’s been keen for some ‘dad n’ mad’ hang time (because I’ve been going to work early everyday this week to pay off my flex debit) so she thought it’d be a good idea to wake up early and hit a 5.30am session with me at Adapt.

It’s the best, warming up and working out with your daughter. She counts my reps and yells encouragement and I do the same for her. There she was hitting snatch balances just like her old man (probably with even better form) and then a 1RM OH squat and a quick metcon that included double-unders, push-ups and wall ball – What the? Who could’ve asked for a better little girl? She’s a beast right now. She’s going to be a beast in the future (bring on the CF Games in 2018) and after asking her to demo toes to bar at last night’s 6pm session, everyone else knows it too.

Driving  home I was seriously the proudest dad in Canberra. Yesterday was a pretty average day so to start today with something like that – well, that was just awesome. I told her how awesome it was on the way home “Girl you’ve got my chuff level sitting at about a 9.2…” She smiled and I think her level of chuff was just as high too.

Regardless whether Madelyn trains with me or not I love her more than I can say and the same goes for my other daughter Isabelle too.  Isabelle’s my little artist and at the moment I’m seriously enjoying watching them both grow up – I can’t wait to see what they become and I just hope that I can continue to nurture and encourage them to become everything they dreamed they’d be.
