You always want to be a cool dad for your kids right?!

I got home yesterday to find out that my daughter: Madelyn had just been given a project to profile 3 inspirational leaders. 1 local; 1 national; and 1 international leader. I think it’s a talk called a ‘Rostrum’ ?

To my delight I found out she chose me as the ‘local leader’ because I run a CrossFit box and help to ‘change people’s lives…’ on a daily basis. Very cool indeed. As you can imagine that got my chuff level sitting on about 9.1. She picked Kevin Rudd for the National leader (?!) and Amelia Earhart for the International Leader (I think she may have already completed a project on her last year?)

Important if you’re on Google

That all sounded well and good until her teacher decided that it wasn’t appropriate to speak about your own father as an ‘inspirational leader’ and decided to add some additional criteria: You can only speak about your dad if he comes up on the first page of Google’s search results. (eg. you’re important if you’re on the Google/interweb thingy right?) Well apparently. Madelyn thought fair enough and Googled ‘Ben Warren’…

The results

I’m happy to say that a link to this very blog (Ben Warren – Still figuring out what I want to do when I grow up) comes in at number 6 which is pretty good considering nobody actually visits it (I got the stats people) She then searched for images and my beautiful mug comes in at a respectable number 4. Go figure? Note to self: Post more pictures of myself on the internet and yes, I’m actually going to try that and see what happens…

Beyond the fact that I feel pretty dang smug that my daughter’s choice for a local inspirational leader was vindicated I’d have to say that I’m even more stoked that my daughter actually picked me! I love my girls and I’ll do everything I can to ensure they continue to think I’m inspirational – This is a win and I’m keeping it 🙂
