Really happy with my effort for Friday night’s session. Good to walk away with a ‘win’ so to speak. Beating guys like Michal and BK gives you a real confidence boost and especially before this years Open started too. Little did I know how tragic the following day would be…
Saturday 12.2.12
Test 3
- Part 1. ‘Pull up capacity test’
- AMRAP pull ups in 4min
— Rest 3min EXACTLY - Part 2. ‘CF style tester’
- AMRAP 8min:
- 5 Push press, 45/30kg
- 25 double unders
- Pt 1 (pull-ups): 81
- Pt 2 (CF tester): 7 rnds + 5 PP
It was my results in the pull-ups that made Saturday’s session so tragic. I was happy to get anything over 80 and I succeeded in doing that. It did however make my forearms ‘blow up’ and I didn’t realise how heavy 45kg was actually going to feel. It felt like 80kg…
What happened next was truly pathetic: I caught myself up at least 5 times in the first set of double-unders! (Yes I know there was only 25 reps?!) and this pretty much set the scene for the next 8 minutes. I swore. I threw the bar (kinda). I threw 3 different types of skipping ropes at the floor, wall and anything that was in my ‘general’ area…
This is by far my most pathetic performance in a CF workout and unfortunately it was done in front of gym members (and their kids even). I wish I could take it back. It was a complete Ronnie Teasdale – probably even worst 🙁 After it was over I went straight outside to avoid the embarrasment of people asking what the hell had just happened and sat down to take stock of the patheticness…
